Health and Wellbeing
At Balksbury Federation, we aim to equip children with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive in modern society. Our goal is to help them play active, positive and responsible roles both now and in the future.
Our PSHE and Sex and Relationships curriculum – called the Health and Wellbeing Curriculum – focuses on three core areas:
• Relationships
• Healthy Lifestyle
• Living in the Wider World
Alongside this, our Talk Toolbox approach helps children develop critical thinking and engage respectfully in philosophical discussions. We want all pupils to confidently express their views on issues that impact themselves and society.

Year 5 Cyber Bullying Workshop
Our Year 5 children took part in an engaging and informative workshop led by the Police Education Officers, focusing on the important topic of cyberbullying. The session explored what cyberbullying looks like, how it can affect others, and – most importantly – how children can stay safe online.
Using real-life scenarios, the officers guided the children through practical examples of unkind or unsafe online behaviour, with a particular emphasis on WhatsApp, one of the most commonly used messaging apps among young people. Children learned how group chats can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, peer pressure, or exclusion, and they discussed positive ways to communicate and support one another.
The workshop encouraged children to think carefully before posting or messaging; to speak up if something doesn’t feel right and to know who they can turn to for help. It was an empowering session that helped our children build confidence, digital awareness, and respectful online habits.
