Balksbury Infant School Admission Policies

Admissions

Welcome to the Balksbury Federation Admissions Page.  Thank you for considering our federation’s schools for your child. At Balksbury Federation, we are proud to offer a safe, inclusive and welcoming learning environment where every child is valued as an individual and encouraged to become a confident, lifelong learner.

Our shared vision and values, developed in partnership with children and staff, are at the heart of everything we do across our two schools. They guide our daily practice and ensure a consistent, high‑quality approach to teaching and learning throughout the federation. We believe that education is a powerful gift, and we are committed to providing inspirational learning experiences that help children grow into well‑rounded, responsible individuals who aspire to achieve their full potential.

From Year R to Year 6, we ensure that every child feels secure, respected and supported. We nurture perseverance, teaching children to face challenges with resilience, and we place great importance on respect of themselves, of others, and of differing views and experiences. Through collaboration and shared learning, our curriculum encourages children to work together, solve problems and develop confidence, empathy and positive attitudes.

We value strong partnerships with families and look forward to welcoming you into our federated community as your child begins their journey with us.

Year R

As soon as you have your place confirmed, we will contact you to invite you in to answer all the questions you will have about your child starting school. In addition, we have a highly successful and praised transition programme called Butterflies.

New Families

What will I need to do to join the Infant or Junior School?

Your first, and most important step, is to come and have a look around. In doing this, you will get a feel for the school you are joining and the federation. During your visit, you will be able to look at both schools in the federation setting, talk to staff and children. If you would like to talk to a parent too, we can arrange this for you.

Coming from another school

We will ensure there are opportunities for your child to visit before they join us full time. We will also work closely with you to ensure we have as much information as we can to ensure that your child settles in quickly and happily.
